Brueggeman Research Project: My personal and professional interest is in health care. I like to focus my academic as well as non-academic endeavors on ways to contribute in shaping this complex system by engaging myself in activities that provide opportunities to lead health care into a higher level. The Brueggeman Fellowship at the Center of Dialogue is one of those opportunities which I consider to be a good avenue to bring awareness to the general public on what is going on and where do people stand in today’s ethical and moral dilemma related to heath care. With such specific situations such as the Teri Schiavo’s case, ethical and moral dilemma in health care presents myriad implications to all sectors of the society. I am currently in the process of conducting a research about people’s standpoint and level of awareness on certain topic such as living will, durable power of attorney, advance directives and similar issues. Furthermore, I would like to investigate how cultural and religious factors come in as relevant variables in this kind of study. Contrasting viewpoints of people from Western and Eastern culture as well as Christian and Muslim religion would not only be interesting but helpful among health care professionals especially in today’s advent of diversity in health care setting.
